Vice-Chair Ken Ford Insults Media Activists, Go to http://www.progressiveportal.org/letters/pacifica/newspapers/ and send a protest e-mail to 45 newspapers nationwide. Throughout the Pacifica community, there has been widespread revulsion at Pacifica Vice-Chair Ken Ford's comparison of staff and listeners critical of his management to the Sept. 11 terrorists. Hundreds have already written passionate and thoughtful letters to the Pacifica National Board and to Ken Ford's employer, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Now, please write and send a letter to newspapers nationwide pointing out how his statements have disgraced Pacifica and the National Association of Home Builders. Call for Ken Ford's immediate resignation from the Pacifica Board. The NAHB recently dealt with a similar incident of reckless action when one of their lobbyists entered US Senator Jim Jeffords' office and threatened to kill him for leaving the Republican Party and handing over control of the Senate to the Democrats. In New York City and Washington, many of us were directly affected by the attacks. Some of us lost friends, family, and loved ones on that terrible day. Still others were displaced from offices and homes. We are outraged by Ken Ford's irresponsible and insulting charge. Send protest letters about the NAHB's Ken Ford to newspapers nationwide. Let them know how Ken Ford's reckless conduct as Pacifica Radio Vice-Chair and how it is ruining the NAHB's reputation. Pacifica activists in Washington, DC initiated a vigil at the NAHB. If you are in DC, join them Thursday and Friday Nov. 1-2 from 5-6 PM at 15th and M NW. Background Ken Ford is vice-chair of the Pacifica Radio National Board, the only listener-supported, corporate-free national broadcast network in the country. Ken Ford is also a staffer at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Washington, DC. During his tenure at Pacifica Radio, he has overseen union-busting, lockouts, censorship, group bannings, and race-baiting. When listeners and staff criticize these actions, he slanders them as violent, as terrorists and as extortionists. He has also threatened listeners with prosecution by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for sending critical e-mails. His term on the Board has expired and he is now subject to four separate lawsuits. He should resign immediately from the Pacifica Board.
