Miss Moossy enjoys giving advice and providing educational experiences for others. For five years she co-hosted and produced Let Them Talk with Paul DeRienzo on WBAI 99.5 FM.
She has a diverse performance history, starting as a dancer, then moving to New York where she worked in nightclubs like the Limelight, the Pyramid, the Wawa Hut, Red Zone, and many more all over the city doing performances for parties of every description, modeling in fashion shows for Mr. Fashion, and dancing with bands like Velvet Johnson and the Homeboys and Big Bud and the Boneboys.
For several years Miss Moossy served as a party hostess at the world- famous Puck Building in Soho. She worked for four years for Peter Gatien in the art department at the Limelight. One night while dancing on the bar at the Pyramid Club on Ave A, she met Ethyl Eichelberger who introduced her to the world of acting in avant-guard theater productions at such downtown venues as LaMama and PS122. Ethyl was an ideal mentor.
After suffering the loss of this influential teacher only a week after the last performance of Das Vedanya Mama in 1990, Miss Moossy, inspired by his incredible talent, began writing, directing, and starring in her own productions which she calls Miss Moossy's Modern Movies.
Her last two movies, You are Cordially Invited to World Peace (financed by her late, great baby cousin, comedian Bill Hicks) and Relaxercise with Miss Joan Marie Moossy, premiered at Caroline's Comedy Club on Broadway in Times Square.
Miss Moossy has been very fortunate over the years to work with numerous New York luminaries including Jacob Burkhardt, Marcus Eisenstein, Penny Arcade, Senor Pedro J. Rosado, Jr., Black-eyed Susan, and Buster Poindexter.
Miss Moossy is available for acting gigs as well as personal appearances. She is a fun MC for any event.
